Bret Michaels, 63, reveals he had emergency surgery

Bret Michaels has revealed that he had to have emergency surgery after an on-stage health scare.

The 63-year-old Poison singer shared in a Facebook update that he had performed three concerts during a week of ‘intense’ pain before he got the necessary surgery.

Michael said in his post that the surgery was for a debilitating kidney stone.

The rocker – who recently voiced support for his daughter Raine selling feet pictures online – added that he felt ‘complete graтιтude’ for the hospital staff who took such good care of him.

The Daily Mail has reached out to Michaels’s representative to request comment. 

Accompanying his post was a pH๏τo of the rocker lounging in a hospital bed post-procedure. He smiled broadly while giving an ‘all good’ hand sign and wearing his signature cap.

He explained that he experienced seven days of excruciating pain from a kidney stone that would not pᴀss, but he would not let his concert-going fans down either. 

Michaels, who is on a solo tour featuring Poison’s hits, plowed through the July 4 show in Charleston, West Virginia, and the July 11 concert in Grantville, Pennsylvania, along with a special private show at Fairchild Air Force Base in Spokane, Washington, on July 18.

‘But immediately, the next day following that show, I was admitted to the hospital, as the pain became too much when the stone would not pᴀss,’ Michaels told his followers.

‘The operation has been done and is complete & I’m out of post-op recovery, and I’m doing everything within my power to feel better and continue playing great shows for great fans when I’ve got a complete clean bill of health.’

He added: ‘Just want to say on this #WisdomWednesday that I am wise enough to know how important family, friends, fans, doctors and nurses play such a vital role in our everyday health.

‘Also just know, they eventually forced me out of my clothes & into a hospital gown lol as I had gone straight from the show to the hospital.’

The Rock of Love star is scheduled to perform in Interlochen, Michigan on July 30 and Belleville, Illinois on July 31, and he has several dates booked in August and September as well.

Michaels canceled his performance at the President Donald Trump–supported Freedom 250 concert on May 29, citing growing political divisiveness and security concerns.

However, he said he hopes to reunite Poison for a tour in 2027, after the band’s previous plans were scrapped.

The hair-metal group – which last toured in 2022 with Def Leppard – was planning to make a return this year with a series of big headlining gigs, but drummer Rikki Rockett recently claimed they gave up on the plan because Michaels wanted the ‘lion’s share’ of the cash.

However, Michaels is adamant that a reunion is still on the cards, and he said he had penciled in next year as the time to hit the road.

During an appearance on SiriusXM’s Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk, he explained: ‘We’re hoping for ’27, ’cause I know it’s a big question. I think – I really strongly think ’27, without going into details yet, is going to be a good reunion year for Poison. I think it’s gonna be awesome.’

When asked about Rockett’s claims the 2026 tour was derailed by a dispute over money, Michaels said: ‘Most people like the drama. I’m an anti-drama guy. I love the guys. I think ’27 is gonna be great.

‘Rikki is my brother. And you’re allowed to agree, and you’re allowed to disagree, but we’re gonna go out there and make it an incredible [tour], honestly.

‘If ’27 all works out here… we’ll jump on the phone, get the whole band on there, or at least me and Rikki just talking it up and be able to lay out some dates and bring a great reunion tour.’

He added: ‘But I’m grateful for Poison and I love my brothers and sisters in the BMB [Bret Michaels Band], and I don’t see any reason we can’t do both and make it great.’
